Slaves’ Stories

Tomorrow we are returning to the Liverpool International Slavery museum with a group of young people to collect their stories and reflections on a number of exhibits. I have just finished laminating various short stories so that we can begin the experience on the journey.

Having re-read these stories this morning, told first person by individuals who were taken into slavery  around 1780, I find them hugely powerful and great examples of an issue that can be understood by the stories without interpretation.

    An evocative & timely posting … I hadn’t realised such slave stories told this way existed – it is interesting that Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin were born on the same date in 1809 …. apparently Darwin had very strong anti-slavery views and it is claimed by some that he almost left the Beagle because of arguments over the slavery issue.
