Watching the fantastic Aladdinsane David Bowie tribute band last night I realised that my favourite Bowie tracks all cluster on or either side of the album Hunky Dory.

I remembered a study that came out of listening patterns on Spotify so I searched for it on X.

@randal_olson on X in 2018 posted: @Spotify data indicates that the #music you love is the music that was released in your early adolescence – age 13 (women) & 14 (men). #dataviz

It is spot on for all the albums I cherish and remember the most. All from 1971 when I was 14. Peak influence.

Led Zep 4, Who’s Next, Electric Warrior, Sticky Fingers, Aqualung, Killer, Budgie 1, Electronically Tested, Fragile, A nods as good as a wink, Look at Yourself, Never never land, Deuce, 4 way Street, Fireball, Meddle, Brain Capers, Dog of 2 Head, Pilgrimage, In Search of Space and surprise surprise Hunky Dory.

Does this work for you?
